"Arashiyama" means "storm mountain"
Hamid and I were going to go to Arashiyama today, but he kind of fell asleep. I went over to see what was going on he said something along the lines of "I wish I could just sleep..." so I came back and I've been poking at the Internet for a while. I got some nice pictures yesterday, so I'll put some of those up.
[Edit: Looks like it'll have to wait. We've got a pretty decent thunderstorm going on right now, so I've got nearly all my electronics unplugged. All that's left is my wireless router, and that's only plugged in because someone else is using the connection as well. I Wi-Fi router I can replace for about $50, but the rest would get pretty pricey to replace.
Maybe I should follow Hamid's example and just take a nap?]

Thunderstorms are awesome! But napping is probably a good idea.
Dream happy dreams :)
You can watch the storm and listen to music, or the rain. They are great moments to remember.
So, what is Arashiyama?
So you were going to go to storm mountain, but had a mountainous storm instead.
Arashiyama is, presumably, the name of a mountain. The place Hamid and I were going to go is a town called Arashiyama.
It's kind of like Leavenworth, but stuck on the side of a large city of 1.6 million people. And I have all of my music on a drive that I don't have plugged in right now. I haven't invested in a second drive to back up pictures on yet, so I'm not going to risk this one and its data in a thunderstorm.
Kind of like Leavenworth...in that it has specific architecture or cultural activities? Or in that it is nestled in beautiful mountainous surroundings? Or?
It's kind of like Leavenworth in that it's a tourist trap.
There's some stuff I really wanted to show Jes when she came, but she decided against it once she started dating Randy. I was going to make a list of cool places to take her, but I don't need a list just for myself, so decided against it.
You should make a list anyway. Lots of people might be interested in your list of cool things to see. :)
