Tokyo: Wake-up (Day 1)
I took this picture of Shimpei - the guy whose apartment I'm staying at.Down below is a panorama of his apartment. Close quarters always do bad things to panos, so please forgive the diagonal door.

Want to guess the true reason this edit is here?
It couldn't be to push this down until it centers properly. That would be bad practice!

Yay, you made it to Tokyo! What does Shimpei' shirt say? Did you need to increase the shutter speed?

Shimpei's shirt says "Twist and Twist". It makes more sense once you realize it's next to a picture of a woman turning around.
If you look at the EXIF information, you can see my lens was already at its maximum aperture and allowed ISO, so increasing the shutter speed would've made the shot even dark than it is currently.
If I had time to prepare, I would've liked to switch to my 50mm 1.8, which is great for situations like this.
If I simply had an extra three or four seconds, I would move closer and zoom out, which would give me a larger aperture, thus allowing more light per unit of time and, thus, giving me the choice to use a higher shutter speed or have more light.
If there's not enough light to work in and you're using a cheap lens, scooting forward and zooming out will help twofold because zoom increases effective camera shake and long focal lengths reduce apertures on most lenses.
