Train Warning-er

There are a lot of small train overpasses here. They're fairly minimally constructed; just a couple of girders bolted together with a mesh to keep things from falling on peoples heads underneath. If you're under the overpass when the train goes by, it is almost painfully loud.
I didn't notice it until today, but there's a strange hissing noise that you hear if you stand under the overpass if a train is coming. It gives you a few seconds' warning, which is plenty of time to plug your ears or get out from under it.

That reminds me of standing under the train bridge in Lynnwood at the bottom of the walking path, just before you go out on the beach area. It is kind of a cool sound and vibration, but also a bit loud and somewhat scary.

I recall you almost fell over from headache last time we were around there...

Oh, yeah, I remember that. My neck had gone way out of alignment when I turned to look at someone. Ouch! That made me dizzy from the shock/pain and sudden-ness. It must have pinched a nerve or something. And yes, it happened right by that train bridge.

I really like that place. So pretty and lots of good memories, even the headache memory reminds me of the happy memories surrounding it.

How common are trains in Japan?

Very, very common. You can go most places that you might wish to just on trains, with maybe 5 minutes of walking.

Sounds more like a handy signal to punch the detonator switch to me, or wait a split second for the engine to be overhead, THEN punch it.
