Well, it is Pickled...

I put some ベニショウガ on my rice this morning, and as I was doing that, I thought to myself I better use this stuff up. I'm surprised it hasn't gone bad by now.
...
And then I realized that I was talking about pickled ginger. That had been kept by itself in an airtight container in a fridge. And was opened about a week ago.
Needless to say, I'm not worried about it going bad anytime soon.

Well, that depends on refrigeration pickling vs. preservation pickling too.

Although, yeah, a week? You're probably fine with a refrigerator pickle kept closed up for at least 1.5 months.

Well, and it's ginger. I think it might be an antibiotic or something. In any case, I probably won't notice when it's gone bad, and I honestly doubt it can go bad in less than six months or so.

Ginger does have medicinal herbal uses, though antibiotic is not one of them that I have heard. Ginger is good for soothing a sick stomach. You can also use powdered ginger to soak in a bathtub and it supposedly helps draw impurities out through your skin...or so I have read in various places. I don't know that pickled ginger would have either of those qualities. It is a tasty business, though.
